Microwave Cheeseburger & Stuffed Shrimp

On November 17, 1986, Mom appeared on Murphy in Morning, a popular morning show in the Tampa Bay area. She demonstrated two recipes from Microwave Cooking for One. The Cheeseburger recipe appears below. You can find the recipe for the Stuffed Shrimp in the Contents & Recipes section of this site.

Microwave Cheeseburger

4 oz. lean ground beef

¼ tsp. black pepper

Shape beef into 5-inch pattie on paper towel and set aside. Heat 6" browning skillet 2 minutes (_____) at 100% power. Place pattie in skillet and cover skillet with paper towel*. Cook 35 seconds (_____) at 100% power. Turn pattie over and sprinkle with pepper. Replace paper towel. Cook 15 seconds (_____) at 100% power.

1 slice American cheese

hamburger roll (optional)

Discard paper towel. Place cheese on top of pattie. Cook 20 seconds (_____) at 100% power until cheese melts. Serve as is or on hamburger roll.

*When using paper towels in the microwave, ONLY use solid white paper towels. Do not use paper towels with color designs imprinted for decoration.
