Setting the Table: Riedel Ouverture Wine Glasses

Ideal for everyday use, the Ouverture series offers perfectly shaped lead free wine glasses at competitive prices. Introduced in 1989, Ouverture is Riedel's uncomplicated beginner series for customers who appreciate good, reasonably priced wine. Six sizes are made for drinking pleasure, covering the main types of wines. The glasses in the Ouverture series are sold in sets of four.

Though glasses shaped and sized for different types of wine seem commonplace today, when Riedel introduced this idea in 1961, it was revolutionary. Since then Riedel has continued fine-tuning glasses to bring out the best characteristics in wines and spirits. Varying bowls' shapes and sizes affects the position of the head when sipping and where wine first contacts the tongue's various taste zones. Being lead-free, they're not crystal like Riedel's premium glasses but are machine blown of potash glass and are dishwasher-safe. Their thin rims are cut and polished to Riedel's exacting standards, so wine or spirits flow easily onto the tongue and flavor is enhanced.

	Red Wine Glass Set of Four — This glass holds 12-3/8 ounces and stands 7-3/8 inches high x 2-1/8 inches diameter.
	White Wine Glass Set of Four — This glass holds 9-7/8 ounces and stands 7-1/8 inches high x 2 inches diameter.
	Magnum Glass Set of Four — This extra-large red-wine glass holds 18-5/8 ounces and stands 7-7/8 inches high x 2½ inch diameter. The large bowl help release a wine's aroma, concentrating it in the narrower tops for full enjoyment.
	Tequila Glass Set of Four — Shaped for extracting full enjoyment when sipping tequila, this glass has a narrow bowl on long, slender, stylish stem. The glass holds 6¾ ounces and stands 8¼ inches high.
	Sherry Glass Set of Four — This glass is recommended for Sherry and holds 9 1/8 ounces. The glass stands 8½ inches high x 1¾ inch diameter.
	Champagne Glass Set of Four — This glass holds 9-1/8 ounces and stands 8½ inches high.
	Spirits Glass Set of Four — Shaped for extracting full enjoyment when sipping eau de vie or other spirits, the narrow glass holds 6-3/8 ounces and stands 6-7/8 inches high.
	Wine Glass Travel Case — When you travel, take your Riedel glassware with you safely and securely. The Riedel travel case has a double-snap hand grip, lockable zipper, and adjustable shoulder strap. This lightweight case comfortably holds three Riedel glasses.
