Spode Lancaster CobaltIdeal for formal dining, this is a lavish pattern featuring broad bands of rich cobalt blue and hand applied ornate 22-carat gold, combining to create an exquisite design on the classic Spode Stafford shape. Mixes with Sheffield and Stafford White. Setting a lively table with an extra touch of refinement, Lancaster Cobalt is best cared for when hand-washed. This pattern is not recommended for use in the microwave, oven, or freezer. Lancaster Cobalt was first produced in 1925. This is one of the richest patterns created by Spode and remains in production today. Variations no longer in production are Lancaster Crimson (1925); Lancaster Leather Green (1984) and Lancaster White (1984). There were also two variations with flat gold rather than raised gold in the cobalt and crimson versions.
