Warren Kimble

Warren Kimble, America's best-loved contemporary folk artist, has combined his love of Americana, antiques and collectibles, architecture, and painting to create an accessible, universally appealing new style of American Folk Art.

His whimsical paintings, created in a folk art style that relies upon Warren's carefully crafted color palette, individually selected fragments of antique woods, and masterfully chosen patterns and subject matter, are easily recognized by devoted collectors all over the world.

The popularity of Warren's contemporary folk art images has helped position him as one of the country's most successful home furnishings designers. Consumers everywhere admire his stylized landscapes, seascapes, animals, and other subjects, which appear on products from dinnerware, to wall and floor coverings, to furniture and textiles, to wood and ceramic decorative accessories.

Warren continues to create new images, painting daily in his renovated barn loft studio, and to oversee the development of new products.

Drawn to art and painting ever since his New Jersey boyhood, Warren received his formal art training from Syracuse University, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1957. After an early career in advertising, he taught art in the public schools and later joined the art faculty at Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont. He left the college in 1983 to pursue his passion for painting full time.

Warren's outstanding original paintings, which include both fine art and folk art works, have been the subject of one-person gallery shows in New York, Boston, and Syracuse, as well as in towns throughout Vermont.

His honors and awards include Syracuse University's 2002 George Arents Pioneer Medal, the university's highest alumni honor, and an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. Warren's work was selected for "The Original Art 2001" by the Society of Illustrators Museum in New York and has been recognized for excellence by numerous marketing and trade organizations.

Warren and his wife, Lorraine, live and work in historic Brandon, Vermont. Together they operate Kimble House, a restored farmstead that houses Warren's studio, business offices, gallery, and gift shops.
