Where can I find a replacement for Pyrex Portables hot pack?

Where can I find a replacement for Pyrex Portables hot pack?

Postby Tracy » Tue Jun 14, 2005 7:44 pm

This is one of the most frequent email question we've received in the last five years:
January 8, 2001

I purchased a Pyrex Portable last Christmas (2000).

The heat pack got over heated by accident and swelled up and then flattened out again but is damaged. I would like to know where to get a new Hot Pack for my Portable.

I have checked department stores and kitchens stores ... half the people don't know what I am talking about. Can you help?

Bette

Hi Bette,

I knew exactly what you were talking about because we gave my brother-in-law a Corningware Pop-ins Portable for Christmas, and saw the "pack" that came with his set. I've looked around, and I haven't been able to find a site where you can purchase the "pack" alone. That's not to say one doesn't exist.

There is a company called World Kitchen that markets Pyrex and Corningware, as well as quite a few other name brands. Their toll-free number is (800) 999-3436.

They also have an online help section on their website. I've already been through all the questions they have online, and can tell you that you're not going to find the answer to your question there. However, they also have a form where you can submit your question and get an answer via email. I would try that first.

If you don't get a satisfactory answer, then I would call them. Who knows? Since it has been less than a month since you purchased the portable, they might replace it for free. The URL for asking questions is: World Kitchen Customer Support

What a help you were and it must have taken you so much time to do this for me. You are a great researcher. I am getting my hot pack in the next few weeks...and it was under warranty. Thank you soooo much! You can't imagine how delighted we are.

Bette

Since first receiving this email, I have called World Kitchen myself to ask about the replacement hot/cold packs. I was told that World Kitchen likes to keep track of the damaged packs, so they do not offer them for sale except by calling the toll-free number. As Bette experienced, the incident that caused her hot pack to be damaged was covered by warranty. World Kitchen told me that if the damage is not covered by warranty, they will sell you a new pack.

To find the Pyrex Portables discussed in this post check out: Pyrex Portables. Portables are also available in CorningWare French White as CorningWare AnyWare Portables, in Cajun Red as Corelle Coordinates Portables, and in the Corelle Abundance and Corelle Chutney patterns.

The hot and cold packs are sold at the retail stores located throughout the US and Canada. Visit WorldKitchen.com to use the store locator. Each store has the capability to ship to your door.

Thank you for the update. The last time I called World Kitchen they said they only sold them through Customer Care, but that was a few years ago.

If your hot or cold pack was damaged in such a way that you think it might be covered by warranty, then certainly call the toll-free number, (800) 999-3436.

Found Pyrex Portable Heat Pack replacement

Postby cdmarlowe » Mon Sep 05, 2005 2:20 pm

I located the company that makes them and you can order directly. Go to Microcore Hot & Cold Replacement Pacs. The product is a Microcore hot and cold pack.

9/5/05 - Edited by Tracy to correct link so it would work.

Microcore pyrex dish pac

Postby Suzanne » Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:25 am

Just pulled out my pyrex travel pac to use in the morning and discovered the "do not use if black" spot on the back has, indeed, turned black! This pac is about 10 years old and I've used 1-2 times per year so I'm not upset about it's loss. Question is this: the replacement pacs on the Vesture website are of 2 varietes, a red (hot) one with gel (like my current pac) and another one that is liquid filled and does both hot and cold. Does anyone have experience with which kind is better, longer lasting, etc.?

hot/cold packs for pyrex portables

Postby iluvourboys2 » Sat Sep 26, 2009 5:42 pm

I went to Amazon and the hot/cold packs that they offer are from "Lionheart". There was only one review and it was given a one star. I went ahead and ordered replacement packs from the Vesture Corp. (1-800-462-4201). I'll let you know my opinion about them as soon as I receive them.
