A funny thing happened on the way to my gradualist program for microwaving. We had a small leak in the stove and PGE came and shut it off without fixing it. this was 5.30 pm. I had already thawed some beef for meatloaf. At first I panicked and thought of going out for dinner, but then I thought: the microwave! I checked your mother's book. She had several recipes with all the usual ingredients. I figured that you could cook any meatloaf in the microwave. I did this and it worked just fine. I made mashed potatoes out of micro-waved baking potatoes, as usual. Then I did broccoli, covered with a sprinkle of water. the whole meal was just fine, and my wife said that she could detect no differences from the usual.

Hi Larry,
Hold on ... I have to finish my jig! You actually cooked a meal in the microwave! Yeah! Well, I'm just so excited ... (continued with personal email)
(Note: Larry is a friend who has been slowly easing into trying his microwave for cooking. He writes often about trying something here and there. I told him the day he cooked an entire meal in his microwave I would do a jig.)
