Hi, I just discovered your website as I was searching for helpful hints. How do you get the smell of burnt popcorn out of the microwave? I've let it air out but when I use it again the smell penetrates my apartment.

Dear Jenetta,
I found this tip in Microwave Cooking: 101 Essential Tips by Sarah Brown:
Tip #13: DEODORIZE YOUR MICROWAVE. To remove lingering cooking odors from your oven, air it occasionally by leaving the door ajar, and wipe over the inside with baking soda dissolved in warm water.
Deodorize your oven using the following recipe: In a 1-quart (1-liter) cup or bowl, combine 1 cup (250 ml) warm water with a few sprigs of thyme, or 2 lemon slices, or 2 teaspoons of mixed spice. Heat on High for 3 minutes, or until the mixture is boiling, then remove to leave a fresh-smelling oven.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if it works or not.
