You seem to have a very interesting and educational site. Question: How do you microwave a soft-boiled egg or eggs?
A.
Dear A.
My mother included a recipe for soft-boil eggs in Microwave Cooking for One. Basically, the process involves boiling water in the microwave and then placing the egg in the water (outside the oven), covering it with a plate and letting it stand for 15 minutes.
When cooking an egg in the microwave, it is not a wise idea to place the egg in its shell in the microwave oven. It will explode.
If you want to make a hard-cooked egg, the instructions are included at this site with the Crab Casserole for One recipe. We also include the recipe for Scrambled Eggs at this site.
You might want to check out the American Egg Board web site, which provides four recipes for cooking eggs in the microwave: a different method for hard-cooking an egg, a method for fried eggs, poached eggs, as well as another method for making scrambled eggs.
