Can you tell me, are my stoneware mugs that came with my Corelle set of dishes safe for microwave use? I've been told that stoneware leaks lead into a beverage if it is heated in the microwave.

Dear Payne,
It is my understanding that ALL Corelle is microwave-safe. However, if you would like to be absolutely sure there is a simple test you can perform.
Place one of your mugs, empty, in the center of the microwave. Place a cup of water in a glass measuring cup (or a Styrofoam cup) next to it. Microwave at 100% power for one minute. If the mug is cool and the water is warm or hot, then the mug is safe to use in the microwave. If the mug is hot and the water is cool, DO NOT use the mug in the microwave. It contains lead or moisture that attracts the microwaves away from food and therefore is not safe to use in the microwave.
Hope this helps. Please be sure to let me know the results of your test.

Thank you for the information. Yes, my mugs passed the test!
