I have a hardly used corningware dish with the metallic coating on the base. Do you know if I can use it in a regular oven and can it go in the dishwasher? I do not want to use it as a browning dish and have lost the original instructions. Thanks for any information.

Dear Ann,
The coating on the bottom of the dish is tin oxide, which is specifically designed to be excited with electromagnetic radiation from your microwave. It is not recommended that you use it in your conventional oven as it will ruin the CorningWare dish. However, microwave browning utensils are safe to clean in your dishwasher.
