To whom it may concern,

I love your website! I just discovered it today. I'm emailing you to request that you add a Microwave Oven Conversion Chart for 400-Watts to your website. I'd be very grateful.

Thank you,
Davetta

Hi Davetta,

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the website. As you requested, I have added the 400-Watt Conversion Chart.

Thank you so much, Tracy! That was fast too! This chart will come in
handy for me. I'm staying in a dorm and don't have much space. The microwave is a lifesaver, but it's hard to accurately gauge the difference in cooking time when using recipes made for a stronger microwave. My stomach thanks you. :-)

By the way, any chance in seeing recipes/tips on the site made for people living in dorms? We all are using microwave ovens, rice cookers, electric skillets, coffee makers, and toaster ovens to cook our food. We have those really small refrigerators in our rooms, so we can't store a lot of perishable food. Any help you can give us would be appreciated.

Love,
Davetta

Hi Davetta,

As time permits, I will be adding more recipes, tips, etc. However, I may be biased because my mother wrote the book, but I have to say that Microwave Cooking for One is perfect for someone in your situation. It contains tips for storing foods, as well as over 300 recipes. For example, I'm sure there is room in your little fridge for a package of hot dogs (the healthier lean beef ones). And you can store a package of hot dog rolls (whole wheat) outside the fridge. Here is the recipe for a hot dog from Microwave Cooking for One:

Ingredients:
2 oz. frankfurter
1 hot dog roll

Instructions:
Put frankfurter in roll and place on corner of paper towel. Fold towel deli-style: fold corner of towel over roll, then fold 2 side corners over the roll and wrap rest of towel around roll. Cook 45 seconds (______)* at 100% power.

*In your 400-Watt Oven, you'll need to cook for 1 minute 19 seconds.

Unwrap hot dog and garnish with desired condiments (mustard, ketchup, relish). Do not add condiments before cooking: they may burn.

If you want to try a few more recipes from the book, I've included a list of all the recipes in the book, plus one recipe from each chapter at Contents and Free Recipes.

There are several options for Ordering Microwave Cooking for One available.
