Sakura Microwave Safe Dinnerware

For over 40 years Sakura, Inc., a privately held company based in New York City, was a leading marketer of dinnerware and a recognized design leader specializing in casual and theme products for the housewares market. The company carried an active list of highly successful licensing agreements in both art and design with David Carter Brown, Warren Kimble, Debbie Mumm, Sue Zipkin and others. Then in mid-2000 the company was purchased by Oneida, Ltd.

For a while Sakura was the ceramic tabletop arm of Oneida, Ltd., one of the country's leading marketers of casual dinnerware, dimensional accessories, melamine, acrylics, barware and flatware. Its broad distribution includes department stores, mid-tier retailers, mass market stores and leading catalogs. Perfect for casual dining, most patterns are safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher. Around 2006, Oneida stopped marketing its dinnerware using the Sakura name. Look for current dinnerware patterns under the Oneida name in the Oneida section of this website.

If you arrived here looking to identify or replace pieces for your discontinued Sakura pattern, we have set up a catalog of most of the patterns with links to available items online that were available under the Sakura brand name.
