Totem by Portmeirion
Launched in 1963, Totem created a sensation. It was different, an idea no-one had thought of, brilliantly executed. Orders poured in and production struggled to keep pace. It was Susan Williams-Ellis' first and most dramatic breakthrough. A little pottery company that no-one had heard of suddenly lead the way. Totem rapidly became the mainstay of the company and during the 1960's Susan continuously added more pieces to the range, at times experimenting with quite large versions of the symbols. New colors were tried and white was later added to the range.
