Primrose by Spode

First introduced in 1881, Primrose was one of the most widely sold patterns produced on the Chelsea Wicker shape. The earliest version was produced on bone china and printed in pink. The 1882 catalog shows Primrose also available in black, brown, blue or green. The pattern was discontinued on Chelsea shape around 1968. Primrose was introduced to the US market on the Lincoln shape in 1954. Lincoln was a modern style based on Chelsea shape. One of the patterns produced at this time featured Primrose printed in grey and then hand colored in green, yellow and grey.

Primrose is also a name of a pattern similar to the yellow Wicker Dell pattern except with blue as its primary color. It was produced from 1954 to 1969.

Spode Primrose is no longer being produced. Versions of these patterns that are trimmed with gold are not safe for use in the microwave. If you need replacement or additional pieces for your collection of Spode Primrose, monitor this page on a weekly basis for new listings.

When it comes to finding Spode that is difficult to find in stores near you, one of your best resources for acquiring the items you want are sites like Amazon, Etsy, Replacements and eBay, where there are a lot of wonderful finds still in the original boxes. We all receive those odd items as gifts that we have no need for and never use. Yet, one person's junk could be exactly the treasure you want.

Please Note: Not all Spode is safe for use in the microwave. Patterns with gold or platinum decorations around the rim should not be used in your microwave because microwaves can not pass through metal. If in doubt, use this simple test: Is this Utensil Safe for the Microwave?

I am thrilled! There are many more recipes then I expected. I am very excited since my husband often works late and I end up with sandwiches rather then making myself something to eat.. —Barbara Andersen, New York
